21-year-old man killed in apparent workplace accident in Elkhart

What appears to be an accidental workplace death is under investigation in Elkhart.

It was just after 9:30 a.m. on Friday, July 13, when officers with the Elkhart Police Department and members of the Elkhart Fire Department were sent to the 900 block of Hester Street on the report of a workplace accident.

It appears the victim was a contractor working on power lines in the area.

They say the victim, a 21 year old man, made contact with a power line, causing his death.

Indiana Michigan Power released the following statement regarding the worker’s death:

On the morning of Friday, July 13, 2018 a Robert Henry Corporation contractor working in Elkhart with Indiana Michigan Power was fatally injured. The I&M family expresses our deepest condolences to the contractor’s friends and loved ones.
