The search continues for a missing kayaker in Berrien County.

35-year-old Michael Scott of Kalamazoo went missing on the St. Joseph River near the Jasper Dairy Boat Launch in Royalton township at about 6:45 p.m. Saturday.

A kayak was found during the ensuing search Saturday night, but the man was still missing.

ABC 57 reports the search resumed Sunday with two search and rescue boats, along with six divers. Despite an underwater drone being used, officials still couldn’t locate Scott. Fast-moving water, debris, high water, and low underwater visibility hampered Sunday’s search.

It’s not believed weather was a factor in the man’s disappearance, but it’s unknown if he was wearing a life jacket.

Anyone with information on this investigation is asked to contact the Berrien County Central Dispatch Office at 269-983-7141.
