Crash shuts down CR 45 near Elkhart for hours Friday morning

(Vahid Sadrzadeh/ABC 57)

A two-car crash in Elkhart County injured one of the drivers and took hours to cleanup Friday morning.

MedFlight brought a helicopter in to remove a 20 year-old Elkhart man from the scene. Police believe he lost control of his car shortly after 4 a.m. on County Road 45 north of Himebaugh Avenue and drove off the south side of the road. He then over-corrected, crossed the center line, and struck an oncoming truck head-on. The driver of that truck, a 30 year-old Bristol woman, was not injured. Seat belts were used and no citations were issued at the scene.

The investigation is ongoing.
