Shedd’s Cemetery to honor seven Civil War veterans buried there

During their observance of Civil War Days, Three Oaks will finally be taking a step to recognize some veterans of that war at Shedd’s Cemetary.

There are seven Civil War veterans buried there, and three of them did not have grave markers. The South Bend Tribune reports that thanks to the Rebecca Dewey Chapter of Three Oaks, that will change.

Chapter members have been working closely with records and historical documents of the cemetary to gather the information they needed.

Today at 6 p.m., with Civil War reenactors looking on, those grave markers will be put in place.
