Suspects in Michigan City, Portage bank robberies arrested

Police have arrested two people after three banks were robbed in Michigan City and Portage.

41-year-old Jason Cheek and a 17-year-old boy were caught in Portage after they allegedly robbed a Chase Bank in Portage Tuesday afternoon.

That robbery reportedly followed another one that had taken place an hour earlier at about 3:15 at the First Source Bank on Franklin Street in Michigan City. In both cases, an undisclosed of money was taken.

Cheek has been initially charged in the two Tuesday robberies. The 17-year-old’s identity has not been released. Cheek is also accused of robbing the Chase Bank in Michigan City on June 5th.
