Smoke causes evacuation at St. Joseph County Jail

A small fire broke out at the St. Joseph County Jail Monday morning.

The fire was reported at about 11:30 a.m. when a contractor saw smoke in one of the housing units. Inmates in that unit were relocated while the smoke was aired out of the building.

WSBT reports an inmate started a fire on a pile with clothes and books.
