Goshen Police catch burglary suspect in the act

Officers with the Goshen Police Department have arrested a man they say the caught in the act of try to break into Forest River R-V.

This, as the department created a special unit in an effort to fight the recent increase in burglaries and thefts in industrial areas of the city, according to a Goshen Police Department news release.

On Saturday, Aug. 11, officers taking part in the unit conducted  surveillance and investigations into a series of thefts from factories and areas in which RV and motorhome companies store their products.

That investigation resulted in the arrest of Vence N. Allen, 57, of Goshen.

Officers observed Mr. Allen in the process of burglarizing Forest River at 3010 College Avenue, the news release stated.

Allen was arrested and taken to the Elkhart County Jail on a preliminary charge of burglary.
