St. Joseph County 911 hopes to increase 2019 budget

The St. Joseph County 911 dispatch center is hoping to increase their budget for 2019.
Budget work began on Aug. 1 and the operating budget for 911 hasn’t been presented yet.

The 2019 budget proposal will ask for an additional $900,000, according to 95.3 MNC’s reporting partners at ABC 57.

Among other things, that money would be used to improve the software that connects the emergency service with people in need, and work to resolve the issue that failed to verify 9500 addresses between the beginning of the year and July 11, ABC 57 reported.

The money would also be used to increase executive director’s salary by $18,000, ABC 57 reported.

A budget hearing is set for Tuesday, Aug. 14.
