Two theft suspects arrested after a standoff in Elkhart.

Two theft suspects were placed under arrest after a standoff in Elkhart.

Elkhart Police were investigating a theft from the Menards store around 7:40 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 13 when they spotted a possible suspect in the 1500 block of Benham Avenue.

When the suspect saw the officers, he took off to his home and barricaded the door.

Officers surrounded the residence.

The Special Response Team arrived on scene and brought the situation to a close.

Carl Sparks, 27, of Elkhart, was arrested on a preliminary charge of theft and for outstanding warrants.

Caitlyn Gifford, 26, of South Bend, was arrested on a preliminary charge of theft.
