Hunter charged after gunshot strikes home in Bristol

A hunter has been charged in an incident last fall where an errant shot struck a house.

The Elkhart Truth reports that Joshua Slabaugh, 21, of Bristol allegedly hit the house with one of three shots taken at a deer back in November 2017.

He faces a felony charge of criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon and a misdemeanor charge of criminal mischief.

The charges, filed Tuesday, carry a potential prison term of up to three years.

Slabaugh told officials in December that he would not have fired his 12-gauge shotgun if he’d been aware that there was a possibility of damaging anyone’s property.
