Illinois man killed in crash on I-94 in Berrien County

A two-vehicle crash on I-94 in Berrien County took the life of a driver on Monday, Aug. 27, on the bridge over the St. Joseph River.

The driver of a van who was killed is identified as a 56-year-old Skokie Illinois man.

Investigators say his vehicle collided with a Jeep near Exit 27, the Niles Road-M 63 exit.

The other driver, a 29-year-old St. Joseph man, was taken to Lakeland Hospital. Officials say neither driver was wearing a seatbelt.

The eastbound lanes were shut down for about three hours while they worked the scene of the crash.
