Senator Joe Donnelly endorsed by Indiana F.O.P.

The Indiana Fraternal Order of Police has announced its endorsement of Senator Joe Donnelly for reelection in November.

FOP President Bill Owensby says Senator Donnelly has been a supporter of law enforcement officials and their families since he arrived in the senate in 2013. Owensby noted the senator’s efforts, which include writing mental health legislation that benefits police officers.

The head of the state’s F.O.P., Rick Snyder, added that the organization “stands with Joe Donnelly because he stands with us.” The senator says he’s working with the Indiana F.O.P. to ensure that the children of fallen officers in the state get the maximum possible pell grants every year, and is working to equip more officers with bulletproof vests.

Donnelly, whose uncle was a police officer, says he’s honored by the endorsement.

CORRECTION: This story previously stated that the Indiana State Police had endorsed the candidate. The State Police do NOT endorse political candidates. We apologize for the error and for the use of their logo in the earlier version of this story.
