An 11-year-old boy drowned in a swimming pool during a birthday party in Cass County.

Police were called around 9 p.m. on Saturday, Sep. 15, to the home on M-51 in Howard Township, according to 95.3 MNC’s reporting partners at ABC 57.

Officers were told the boy was in the pool with several others when party goers noticed he was laying on the bottom of the pool, ABC 57 reported.

Parents at the scene attempted CPR and called 911.

The child was taken to Lakeland Hospital in Niles where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
