KOKOMO, Ind. (AP) — Authorities say a 15-year-old youth has died after crashing a stolen car pursued by police in north central Indiana.

Howard County Coroner Steven Seele says 15-year-old Travis L. Abston Jr. of Battle Ground died Tuesday after crashing into another car in Kokomo.

Kokomo Police say officers spotted the stolen car around noon and gave chase at high speed. Police say they learned the stolen car’s driver might be armed and headed to a Kokomo school to possibly harm someone. The crash occurred a short time later.

Capt. Tonda Cockrell says no shots were fired in the incident.

The driver of the second car was transported to a hospital.

An officer at the alternative school called The Crossing said it was informed of the threat and canceled classes before they began.
