As aid checks go out, Indiana farmers worry bailout won’t be enough

Farmers in Indiana, and across the U.S., will soon begin receiving checks from the federal government as part of a billion-dollar bailout to help those experiencing financial strain from President Donald Trump’s trade disputes with China.

But even farmers poised for big payouts worry it won’t be enough, and some growers say disappointing aid outcomes could potentially affect their vote in the November election.

The Trump administration is providing up to $12 billion in emergency relief for American farmers.

The three-pronged plan includes $4.7 million in payments to corn, cotton, soybean, dairy, pork and sorghum farmers. Soybean growers will get the largest checks.

So who ends up with the $4.7 million worth of corn, cotton, soybean, dairy, pork and sorghum? Has anyone, ever, bought sorghum? I love the farmer because I love to eat but can’t y’all learn a lesson from OPEC and produce less? Supply and demand you know. And how come low prices only affect the farmer, the price of pork and dairy never seem to drop in price and the grocery store?

It was a mistake from the beginning to allow an enemy to become a major player in our economy. Best to recover now and stop producing the seeds of our destruction.
