Power outage for thousands of I&M customers in Elkhart

An equipment failure at a substation resulted in thousands of Indiana Michigan Power customers in Elkhart losing electricity on Sunday, Sep. 23.

The outage happened just after 8 p.m.

Around 6,800 people were out at the height of the outage.

Around 3,600 people were still without power after 3 a.m. on Monday morning.

The utility were working to get them back on-line by 4 a.m.
