Survey: Nearly 1 in 3 Hoosiers knows some battling addiction

New survey data shows nearly two out of three Hoosiers know someone who is battling addiction.

That’s 63 percent of all Indiana residents.

The survey was commissioned by the Responding to the Addictions Crisis Grand Challenge Initiative from Indiana University.

One-quarter of those surveyed reported having a friend with an opioid addiction, and nearly one in five said that person was a family member.

Seventy percent showed sympathy towards those facing addiction, and nine out of every ten residents surveyed said they are somewhat or very aware of the opioid crisis in Indiana.
