Former school nurse gets probation for stealing medication

ROCHESTER, Ind. (AP) — A former middle school nurse has been sentenced to probation for stealing students’ medication at Rochester Middle School.

The Rochester Sentinel reports that a Fulton County judge recently sentenced 35-year-old Ashley N. Beck to 180 days of probation.

The Rochester woman had pleaded guilty in August to a misdemeanor theft charge under a plea agreement calling for no jail time and no fine.

Beck was arrested in March following an investigation into missing medication at the school. The medication included a painkiller for a student who had undergone surgery.

Other medication was discovered missing that had been prescribed to students at the school.

Court record states that Beck began stealing the medication on the first day she worked by herself at the school nurse’s office.
