One person killed, four others injured after crash on County Road 17

One man is dead and four other people were injured after a four vehicle crash on County Road 17 and State Road 120.

The collision happened around 4:45 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 2 when police say a vehicle pulling out of a private driveway was struck by a box truck.

The force of the crash pushed the box truck into the oncoming lanes where it struck two other vehicles.

Vincent Spirito, 59, of Elkhart, was driving one of the other vehicles that was hit. He suffered facial injuries and a fracture to his lower legs. He was taken to Memorial Hospital where he died of his injuries.

The other four people suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
