Fifth person arrested in connection to Nappanee child neglect case

A fifth person has been arrested in a Nappanee child neglect case from March.

Annette Priestley, 59, was booked for neglect of a dependent resulting in serious bodily injury.

Previously two Etna Green women, a Nappanee man, and a Claypool woman were taken into custody.

The arrests stem from an incident in which a boy was found malnourished with life-threatening injuries.

The Times-Union reports a doctor called the injuries “not accidental” and said the child would have died within 48 hours without treatment.

The five people arrested are all believed to have connections to the prolonged child abuse.
