Pokagon Police Officer cleared of wrongdoing in crash

No charges will be filed in a deadly crash involving a Pokagon Tribal Police Department squad car.

It happened last month on M-140 south of Watervliet. The officer and his partner were responding to a domestic violence call and traveling south at 84 miles per hour with their siren and overhead lights on.

The officer had the right of way at Territorial Road when another car failed to heed the stop sign. The driver of that car, 69 year-old Sherry Temple of Stevensville, died. The two officers are recovering.

Dashboard video indicated the officer driving the car acted reasonably and responsibly.
