Surge of early voting reported across St. Joseph County

There’s been a surge of early voting across St. Joseph County, and officials are hoping the enthusiasm will carry over into Tuesday.

As of Thursday, Nov. 1, nearly 13,500 votes have been cast early, with lines after closing time every day.

The numbers are nearly roughly double the early votes from the last midterm in 2014.

Around 6,000 requested mail-in ballots have arrived, with another 2,000 yet to be mailed back.

To count they will have to be sent in before Tuesday.

Early voting will be opened all weekend and until noon on Monday.
