Police: Man shot, killed wife, then shot himself at home on Prairie Avenue

The St. Joseph County Metro Homicide Unit is investigating a deadly double shooting.

It happened around 6 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 3, at a home in the 2500 block of Prairie Avenue.

A man shot his wife and then turned the gun on himself as officers got onto the scene, according to 95.3 MNC’s reporting partners at ABC 57.

Officers tried to talk the man into putting the gun down, but were unable to stop him. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition, ABC 57 reported.

The woman was found in a bedroom.

A dog at the home was also killed.
