Body of former South Bend woman found near a Missouri State Park

UPDATE: The Missouri State Highway Patrol confirms the body of Raffaella Maria Stroik was found near a Missouri State Park. The pilot of a private plane spotted a body while flying over Mark wain Lake and notified police. Members of the Missouri State Highway Patril Division responded and recovered Stroik’s body.

About 150 people were searching when the body was found.

Authorities say foul play is not suspected.

ORIGINAL STORY: Authorities are looking for a former South Bend woman who is a member of the St. Louis Ballet.

The woman is identified as Raffaella Maria Stroik, 23. Her car was found at a northeast Missouri lake, this week, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Stroik graduated from Saint Joseph High School in South Bend. She joined the ballet last year.

Troopers and park rangers began investigating on Tuesday, Nov. 13, after finding her car parked for a second straight day near a boat ramp at Mark Twain Lake State Park.

She was last seen Monday morning at a Whole Foods in suburban St. Louis.

The grocery store is about a two-hour drive from the rural Monroe County lake where her vehicle was parked.

Stroik is about 5-foot-7 and 115 pounds with brown eyes and brown hair that she normally wears in a ponytail.
