A shootout has led to a steep sentence for a South Bend man.

Santori Dorsey, 20, has been given an 87-and-a-half year sentence for murder and planning to commit robbery resulting in serious injury.

The shooting happened at a home near central Elkhart in August of 2017.

Lenell Williams, 18, was killed, and another man living in the house was injured.

Before the sentence Dorsey’s attorney failed to have the hearing postponed.

On his way out of the court, Dorsey promised he would “fight for his life” with an appeal.
