Gas prices down ahead of Thanksgiving travel

If you’re doing any traveling this week for Thanksgiving, at least you’ll be paying less at the pump.

Gas prices in the area have fallen 11 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $2.42 a gallon on Monday, Nov. 19, according to GasBuddy, though prices at many pumps in Michiana are lower than that.

The national average also fell 5.6 cents per gallon last week to $2.62.

Gas prices in Indiana are almost 29 cents per gallon lower than a year ago and are 41 cents per gallon lower than they were a month ago, which is good, because AAA says more than 43.5 million Americans will be hitting the road for Thanksgiving this year.
