A 26-year-old man involved in a deadly hit-and-run in South Bend has entered a guilty plea.

It was back in August when prosecutors say Dylan McDaniel struck and killed a man near McDonald’s on South Michigan Street, then left the scene.

McDaniel told police he thought he hit a dog, and didn’t realize it was a man he hit until he saw and heard it on the news.

McDaniel was also charged with possession of a controlled substance after police found a pill on him.

His sentencing is set for early February.
