A former Kosciusko County Community Correction home detention officer will defend himself in a jury trial.

Patrick Olson was originally scheduled to take a plea agreement yesterday morning, but instead decided not to plea guilty to charges of aiding an escape and sexual misconduct by a service provider.

Olson is accused of helping an inmate escape after having a sexual relationship with her while he was a home detention officer.

Police say he removed the detainee’s ankle bracelet in September of 2017 so the two could take a trip to Valparaiso. He then allegedly reconnected the ankle bracelet upon their return.

Olson was fired from his home detention officer job in October of 2017.
