Alcohol may be a factor in a crash in which two people, including a 6-year-old girl, were killed in Van Buren County.

The collision happened around 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 12, in the 60000 block of Red Arrow Highway in Hartford Township, according to the Van Buren County Sheriff’s Office as reported by WSJM.

The crash occurred when a 23-year-old Benton Harbor Man driving a S.U.V. crossed the center line and struck a vehicle, head-on, driven by a 73-year-old woman, WSJM reported.

The woman died at the scene. A 6-year-old girl from Coloma who was a passenger in the SUV was taken to a hospital in Watervliet where she died.

Three other people, including the driver of the SUV and a 1-year-old child were hospitalized in critical condition, WSJM reported.
