An 8 week-old infant died on Tuesday, Feb. 5, and LaPorte County police are conducting a death investigation.

The infant was taken to a hospital in Michigan City, who contacted the LaPorte County Sheriff’s Office on Feb. 1.

The child was transported to the Comer Children’s Hospital in Chicago, and was declared dead late Tuesday morning. An autopsy was scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 7, in Cook County.
