Sleepy driver injured after crashing into tree on Marcellus Highway

A 25-year-old Dowagiac man is recovering from injuries after falling asleep at the wheel and crashing into a tree.

The collision happened around 7:15 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 16, on Marcellus Highway east of Goodenough Road in Volinia Township, according to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office.

The driver was wearing a seatbelt and alcohol was not a factor in the crash, the sheriff’s office stated.
