He was offered $150 to cash a stolen check but, now, a Michiana man is paying for the attempt to do so with his freedom.

The check for $400 was stolen during a burglary at a South Bend home earlier this month. Blaine Nagle was approached by another man who offered to pay him to get the check cashed, according to 95.3 MNC’s reporting partners at ABC 57.

A teller at the bank where investigators say Nagle tried to cash the check recognized it as being stolen and called Mishawaka police.

Nagle was arrested on a counterfeiting charge.
