Man charged in alcohol-fueled injury crash in South Bend

A 46-year-old man has been charged in connection with an alcohol-fueled crash that injured a South Bend woman.

It was Saturday night, March 2, when the St. Joseph County Prosecutor’s Office says Jeffrey Branstetter collided into a vehicle at Francis and Arthur Streets, injuring a 61-year-old woman.

Investigators say Branstetter smelled of alcohol, had glassy and blood shot eyes and registered a .21 on the portable breath test.

Branstetter was charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated, endangering a person
and causing serious bodily injury when a operating a vehicle while intoxicated.

Branstetter’s initial bail hearing is set for Tuesday afternoon.
