Formal murder charge filed against roommate in Benton Harbor stabbing death

Formal charges of 1st Degree Murder and Concealing the Death of an Individulal have been filed against Jerry Lee Osler, 59, in connection with the stabbing death of his roommate.

Osler was arraigned in Berrien County Court on Monday, March 4. His bond was set at $250,000 cash or surety with GPS tether.

Officers with the Benton Harbor Department of Public Safety were called to the 100 block of Lake Street just after 1 a.m. on Saturday, March 2,  where they found Sylvester Booth, 56, in the basement of a home with a stab wound to his chest.

Osler allegedly told police he stabbed Booth five days prior during a fight about money.

Osler’s pre-exam conference has been scheduled for March 13 and a preliminary exam hearing for March 19.
