A giant boom box vehicle is drawing some criticism in South Bend.
The City of South Bend is pouring $50 million into improvements for shared public spaces under the My S.B. Parks & Trails initiative. But the latest purchase is “Boomer,” a $650,000 experimental vehicle shaped like a radio, and that price tag has raised some eyebrows in the community, according to 95.3 MNC’s reporting partners at ABC 57.
The Parks Department says the investment will help get kids outside and be more active.
Critics, however, told ABC 57 the more than $500,000 could have been put to better use on things like potholes, or education.
“Boomer” is expected to kick out the jams sometime around the end of next month.

Those in charge of South Bend are too dumb, deaf, blind and confused to see that this is a massive waste of money. If the people have any brains themselves, they vote this trash out of office next time. People get the leaders/politicians they deserve.
Local radio stations would likely have provided the same service at no charge to the city. The mayor is too busy running for President to pay attention to a tiny little $650,000 expenditure. $650K is walking around money as soon as Mayor Pete grabs the brass ring. His “Smart Streets” don’t even have left turn arrows but he can buy a city owned jukebox.
It is our duty to give the government all the money they want for whatever they want. We are also obligated to believe the lies the democratic government of South Bend and Indiana tell us without exception. Our democratic mayor and our pretend republican governor are the same when it comes to wasting our money while swearing they need more for critical things that we have paid for 10 times but never enough…Anyone that votes for these people again is just as crooked!
