Update: Female body found on Lake Michigan shoreline identified

Update from the Berrien County Sheriff’s Office, Monday 2 p.m.

We now know the name of the woman whose body was found early Sunday morning north of Warren Dunes State Park.

She’s been identified as Eddisa Concepcion Herrera, who was listed as missing after she jumped into Lake Michigan in Chicago on December 21, 2018.

Her death is being called an accidental drowning.

The Chicago Police assisted in the investigation and identification of the victim.

 

The body of a female washed up on the Lake Michigan shoreline north of Warren Dunes State Park, in Lake Township.

Emergency crews were called to the scene around 12:50 p.m. on Sunday, March 31, after a ​person walking on the shore spotted the body.

An autopsy has been scheduled for Monday.

Several agencies assisted with the investigation, including the Lake Township Fire Department and DNR Park Rangers from the Warren Dunes State Park.
