South Bend has been named a finalist for the Smart City North America awards.

The awards are given out by the International Data Corporation, and are determined through public voting that concludes on April 4.

The finalist project was the Combined Sewer Overflow Real-time Decision Support System, which Mayor Pete Buttigieg called “a great example of how a start-up, a university, and a city government can identify a challenge and become partners to prototype a solution.”

Winners will be recognized at the Smart Cities New York City event on May 14.

Has anyone been on the brilliant streets of Lincolnway West and Bendix Drive during Rush hour? How Smart is that traffic jam? We don’t need no stinking Left Turn arrows either, no one in South Bend needs to turn left, am I right? Pure genius, and if this company gives a Smart City award to South Bend they are as smart as the unusable streets Mayor Pete, soon to be President, subjected us to. Phew!
