Four people, including the suspect driver at the center of a police pursuit, were injured when the chase ended with a crash.

Around 4 p.m. on Tuesday, April 23, officers saw the driver of a 2018 Chevy Cruze traveling northbound on John Weaver Parkway at a high rate of speed.

The Cruze turned westbound onto C.R. 6, disregarding the traffic control device that was red at the time.

Officers attempted to stop the Cruze with light and sirens. The offender fled the officers in his Cruze and a vehicle pursuit ensued.

The offender fled briefly into Michigan then returned to the northwest side of Elkhart.

The suspect was traveling eastbound on C.R. 10 when he collided with a 2007 Chevrolet HHR and a 2016 Lincoln MKX that was westbound at the intersection of C.R. 10 and John Weaver Parkway.

The suspect, a 24-year-old man, was the only occupant of the Cruze and was taken to Elkhart General Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

The sole occupant of the Lincoln, a 57-year-old man, was also taken to Elkhart General Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the HHR, a 26-year-old woman, was taken to Memorial Hospital for serious injuries. A passenger, 18-month-old child, was taken to Memorial Hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

Criminal charges are pending on the offender during the ongoing investigation.
