Another step on a 20-million dollar railroad overpass project at the Hively Avenue crossing in Elkhart is being taken.

The goal of the overpass it to improve safety and reduce traffic delays.
Representatives from INDOT are now conducting environmental surveys of the area.

To accommodate the overpass, additional modifications will be made to surrounding local streets and the city plans to host public events to review the designs and gather feedback from neighbors and business owners.

Construction of the project could begin in 2021.
