A former St. Joseph Bear is now a part of the Houston Astros system.

Jordan Brewer, who graduated from St. Joe in 2016 before heading off to play some of his college ball at the University of Michigan, was selected in the Major League Baseball draft earlier this week. He also spent some time playing at a smaller school in Illinois before transferring.

Brewer was the Big Ten Conference Player of the Year this year and will play at UCLA Friday as he and the Wolverines continue to make their way into the College World Series.
