One person was killed in a single vehicle crash in Elkhart County after police responded to a domestic 9-1-1 call.

It happened shortly before 5 a.m. in the 2200 Block of Morehouse. Officers responded to a call of a woman screaming and were informed that the suspect was in an SUV leaving the scene.

After a brief chase the vehicle disregarded the railroad crossing arms at Main Street and collided with a parked car, eventually striking the Post Office.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
