Assessment grant will benefit several area counties

A number of communities in out area will soon have additional resources for their efforts in addressing contaminated properties.

Elkhart has already identified two sites inside the city that will benefit from the money.

The Michiana Area Council of Governments has announced a grant of $600,000 that will help communities in Elkhart, Kosciusko, Marshall and St. Joseph Counties.

The City of Elkhart will use a share of that money to work on two priority sites that they believe represent excellent opportunities for redevelopment, including the Conn Instruments property on East Beardsley, and the former Federal Press site on Division.
