Friday morning semi crashes tangle traffic around Indiana

A pair of semi crashes created havoc early Friday morning for commuters near Michiana.

Two semis collided on I-94 in Porter County not far from Burns Harbor. Both trucks were hauling cargo that spilled onto the highway, including lithium batteries and cocoa powder. When combined, the two ignited. Both drivers were uninjured.

And another crash early Friday morning tied up traffic on US-31 between Kokomo and Carmel near State Road 28. This crash involved a semi that spilled hydrochloric acid on the highway, requiring a hazmat response.Both drivers were treated at the scene for minor injuries and several buildings nearby were evacuated due to the spill.
