A Pierceton Police officer is resigning after being placed on suspension last week.

Town marshal Tim Sammons say officer Matt Owens’ squad car was parked in the garage during four of his shifts this month for an unreasonable amount of time instead of patrolling.

The Times-Union reports Owens was suspended with pay for five days and without pay until July 1st.

Pierceton Town Council President Matt Brukbaker confirmed Owens’ resignation was received Tuesday.

Owens had been with Pierceton Police since 2007.
