Argument leads to shooting, arrest in Marcellus

A 22-year-old Marcellus man is recovering after being shot and the person suspect of firing the gun has been arrested on a preliminary charge of attempted murder.

The shooting happened around 9:45 p.m. on Friday, June 21, at a home in the 300 block of East Dibble Street.

The victim and the suspect were in the backyard for a campfire and began to argue.

The suspect retrieved a gun and fired at the victim, striking him twice, according to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies were called to the scene and took the suspect into custory.

The victim was taken to Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.

Alcohol appears to be a factor in the incident, which remains under investigation.
