Berrien County beaches safe from E.coli

Three beaches in Berrien County are ready for swimmers after additional testing of the water quality.

Officials are no longer suggesting people avoid swimming at Cherry Beach, Warren Dunes and Weko Beach after tests on Monday, June 24, showed elevated levels of E.coli in the water.

A new round of testing on Wednesday, June 26, prompted officials to say the water is safe for swimmers.

High water levels in Lake Michigan are believed to have contributed to higher bacteria levels in certain parts of the lake this summer.
