South Bend FOP wants Buttigieg to apologize with more than just pizza

The South Bend FOP Lodge has called for an apology from Mayor Pete Buttigieg.

The FOP called on Mayor Pete Buttigieg to apologize for calling police racist, and provide a guarantee of fairness and city support for South Bend police officers.

Lodge President Harvey Mills said the mayor often falsely implies that the department’s officers are racist…and rather than apologize, he sent them pizza. Mills said rather than delivering pizza, the mayor should “deliver some respect for what the police do, and hold the politics.”

About a dozen pizzas were delivered to the Police on July 5, and each box had “From The Mayor” written on the top. Mills said the gesture “didn’t go over well” within the department.
