Man sentenced in shooting death of another man at McConnell Family Boathouse

It’s 65 years in prison for a man convicted in the shooting death of another man outside the McConnell Family Boathouse on Northside Blvd. in South Bend.

The body of Eric Phillips, 37, was found in the parking lot of the boathouse on June 23, 2018.

Elbert Briggs, 24, was one of two people charged with Phillip’s murder. He received his sentence on Tuesday, July 16.

The St. Joseph County Prosecutor’s Office has also charged Tastacia Parker, 23, with murder.

Her trial is scheduled for mid-October.
