The US Department of Agriculture is encouraging farmers, rural small businesses, and agricultural producers to apply for financing from a key program aimed at lowering energy costs.

USDA Rural Development provides loans and grants to help expand economic opportunities and create jobs in rural areas.

That in turn supports infrastructure improvements, business development, housing, and community facilities such as schools, public safety and health care. It also supports high-speed internet access in rural areas.
