LaPorte County settles with snowplow crash victim

LaPorte County will cover two-thirds of a $750,000 settlement with a man who was seriously hurt when he was broadsided by a snow plow truck.

The balance will be covered by the county’s private insurance carrier.

The County Commissioners agreed to the settlement on the advice of legal counsel.

In January of 2018, 55 year-old Thomas Smith was hit by the truck at the intersection of 700 West and 1050 South on the driver’s side of his vehicle.
